Greensboro Sports Council Fund

The Greensboro Sports Council has established the Greensboro Sports Council Fund (the “Fund”) within the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro (the “CFGG”).  The purpose of the Fund is to provide financial assistance for projects supported by the Greensboro Sports Council.  The Fund provides a unique funding vehicle for the support of sports within our community, as it is the only fund within the CFGG dedicated exclusively to local sports and related activities.  The Fund is intended, over time, to become a significant community resource that will help Greensboro attract and retain major sports events that will continue to elevate Greensboro nationally as Tournament Town USA.

Under the Fund structure, all disbursements from the Fund require approval by the Greensboro Sports Council’s Board of Directors.  Grants from the Fund may be made to approved charitable organizations or governmental units in accordance with CFGG requirements.  The Fund is administratively managed by the CFGG and its assets are invested by the CFGG pursuant to its standard investment policies.  A standing committee of the Greensboro Sports Council’s Board has been established to assist with the management and administration of the Fund.  This committee is charged with responsibility for stewardship, additional fundraising within the community, and making recommendations to the Greensboro Sports Council Board regarding grants to be made by the Fund.

All contributions to the Fund should be fully tax deductible to the donor, based on the CFGG’s status as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.  Contributions may be made to the Fund at any time, and people are encouraged to consider use of the Fund as part of their personal estate planning.

The Greensboro Sports Council is very excited about the Fund and the impact we believe it can have on our community.  We welcome your support and participation and are happy to respond to any questions you may have.

Contributions to the Fund can be made by personal checks payable to the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro.  Each check should indicate on the memo line or in accompanying correspondence that the contribution is for the Greensboro Sports Council Fund.  Checks to the Fund and any questions to the CFGG regarding the Fund should be directed as follows:
